Beartrap Falls

Finally!! Not only was I able to see this waterfall, but I finally was able to see one for the first time since July 31, 2010 before the birth of my beautiful daughter, Aja Gabriela.
I had been trying to see this waterfall for a bit now. I planned it a few times and things came up. Whether it be finances or people not being able to go with me. This waterfall I was able to go backpacking to with Matt Freeze(whom is my brother-in-law). There are several mini waterfalls along the La Verkin Creek on the Lee Pass Trailhead in the Kolob Canyons of Zion National Park. The waterfall is a long long one to get to and is located in the Beartrap Canyon. To get there is a .03 of a mile. The canyon itself is also worth it to see. However, the waterfall is very beautiful and zen like.

Waterfall News.....

It has been a bit since my last posting, but for good reason. I had my baby girl Aja Gabriela on Aug 16th! I am going to check out some new Idaho waterfalls in a week I believe. however, I am planning on doing some hiking in the backcountry of Zion's Kolob Canyon on October 15th thru the 17th. I plan on seeing at least two new waterfalls and I hope to see several small ones on the trail and the best one I am looking forward to is Beartrap Falls in Beartrap Canyon. I will post pics of it when I head out with my brother-in-law Matt Freeze.

Aspen Grove Trail Waterfalls

Here are some of the waterfalls that I received via e-mail from Ethan Shipp. I will get the rest of the pics Monday when I go back to work. These are the best ones on the trail in my opinion.

Aspeb Grove Trail Part#2

I went on the trail once again with Ethan Shipp. We arrived there at about 8:15 a.m. and got back at about 3:30 p.m. I forgot my camera which has never happened with me lol. So we used two of his cameras and took pics and recorded videos. Once he sends them to me via e-mail or copies them onto a dics I will post them. They are awesome. Muita bonita!!

Aspen Grove Waterfalls

This is one of the waterfalls on the trail that I recorded. I am walking behind it and the volume of water that is shooting off the top is almost deafening and peaceful at the same time. Plus, my dumb friend Ethan ended the video that makes myself have this crazy look lol.

Aspen Grove Trail

I really want to hike to the top of this peak after what I had seen. This was my second time on this trail but I really was only planning on hiking to several waterfalls so I could donate plasma (that didn't happen) and I had to pick up my wife from work in the early afternoon. So, if Ethan shipp and I brought more water and some food with us and if I didn't have to be somewhere, we would've hiked to the top and seen more waterfalls. We didn't see the trail go to the left where we could've seen the lower waterfalls but we will next time and we also got to hike up quite a bit and see some of the most beautiful waterfalls I have seen and especially on this trail that almost gives myself the impression that I am hiking in the swiss alps. I enjoyed this one and I will hike to the top very soon.. maybe this saturday. Lol. This trail is located near Sundance, Utah and it is about 7 minutes past the parking area for Stewart Falls.

Wasatch Falls

This is a very beautiful waterfall that I recently found on my own in Willard Canyon. I had hiked up to this canyon with my cousin Aaron and his girlfriend, katy from Willard. You can see two waterfalls from 1-15 and that would be Willard Falls. However, only one of the two has any water flowing in it at this time of year and its not too great. Its not bad but further inspection of the canyon needed to happen. Especially since the creek was flowing at a rapid pace. I had managed to climb on the rocks and walk through the fairly fast creek to find a few new waterfalls. Two of which are nice. However, this one was the best one. The trailhead is located in Willard, Utah and the hike up to when you get into the canyon is pretty difficult. Because you are hiking uphill most of the way and exposure to the hot sun and dangers include: rattlesnakes and ticks in the bushes. I was lucky not to confront that. It takes about 40 minutes to get to the shady part which is entering the mouth of the canyon. The creek is cold but not too cold. As long as you don't wade in it too long.

Rainbow Falls

Here is the one in Ogden Canyon. Very easy. One has to park along the side of the road and not much else to it.

New Waterfalls

Here I am back again and I was thinking that I wouldn't be able to hike to any waterfalls but I managed to do so. I went hiking to a new one called Richards Hollow Waterfall. This one is located on the named waterfall trailhead about 45 minutes in. It is near the town of Hyrum, Utah in the canyon. It took me about 40 minutes to get to Hyrum, 15 minutes into the canyon and 25 minutes going on gravel for about 3 miles. It sucked but it was worth it. Going earlier is the best option to see it bigger but it wouldn't be more impressive now. It is unique and nice. It is fairly difficult mainly cause most of the hike is uphill and there is a switchback. I also went to one I have been to before called Rainbow Falls in Ogden Canyon. I drove there with Angel to take a few more pics of it and record it.

My goal for waterfalls in Utah

This is my second or third posting. I am going to do this everyday and sometimes twice a day. My goal is to see 100 waterfalls in Utah. Not just the cascade but actual waterfalls. I don't want to just take pics of something that I don't believe to be a waterfall and count it as my goal. I am at 71. I think that is accurate and I will double check. My next one is probably going to be on Monday June 21. The first day of Summer. It will be in Hyrum, Utah and the name is Richard's Hollow Waterfall. Wish me luck! It will be my second attempt at this one.

Upper Farmington Creek Waterfall

Upper Farmington Creek Waterfall

Welcome!!

Welcome to my very furst blog!! I am excited because I get to show anyone my interest which is in hiking to waterfalls in general. However, I specifically love to hike to ones in Utah. Many do not think that Utah would offer many at all. Being that the state is the state that receives the second least amount of precipitation in the United States, there are a ton. You just have to look for many of them. Three things to take into account when looking for waterfalls are 1. Patience 2. Time 3. Desire. Enjoy my blog as I continue to seek out more waterfalls in Utah and hopefully I can reach 100. Please feel free to comment and inquire about any waterfall that you see here.
